They may be small, but their voices sure are mighty. The Woodlands Boys Choir recently won two awards for their performances at the Schlitterbahn Sound Waves Music Festival in New Braunfels.
Woodlands Boys Choir Director Sherryl Pond said the group was honored to win both the “Superior Performance” and “Best in Class” awards.
“We made sure to celebrate the achievement after the festival with all-day group excursion to Schlitterbahn Water Park,” Pond said.
At the showcase event, groups of different performance methods and ages attend a weekend of competition. They perform in the morning or early afternoon, and then are free to enjoy the park the rest of the day.
This trip adds to the list of performances the choir prepares for, previously performing at the Glade Cultural Center and HopePoint Anglican Church —both in The Woodlands.
The choir, which is in its third year, is having open auditions throughout the summer. The group has three levels of choirs for boys ages 7 to 14.
“All throughout the summer we are accepting audition appointments for talented boys who love to sing. The auditions are low-pressure and guaranteed to let our new members immediately feel welcome in our family,” Pond said.
